Women have been severely victimized by this socio-economic, cultural political structures. Women are the creator of the universe but they have been ignored and neglected. We have patriarchal society in Nepal. In the most of the Nepalese society, it expected that all the younger family member should respect and obey their elders. Even though women play a vital role in the household activities they have less decision making power than that of their male counterpart. Generally Nepalese women are suffering from this problem in comparison to men. So that status of Nepalese women have been going down and down which stands as and obstacle for women’s development. Most rural as well as urban women are unemployed and their participation in social and economic phenomenon are negligible.

They spend most of their times in house work.
Moreover, she has been entrusted with additional and super responsibilities to rearing and caring of the child the future generation or the citizen of ratio.
Empowerment of women have become a global issue. If women become economically active and financially independent their social status also will changed automatically. So various efforts have been forwards this sector by governmental and nongovernmental.
Before 1951 the status of Nepalese women was severely disadvantage position to social, political, legal and economic factors. Nepal is a multiethnic and multicultural country with more than 50% of the population being women in all cultural groups logs for behind men access to property, credit and modern avenues of education, skills development technology and knowledge.
God has created all men and women in equal shows by nature, what their creed, culture and religious are. They are said to the wheels of a cart. If one of the wheels is weak, the cart cannot move properly, thus if females are uneducated. The progress of the nation depends on female educated too.
In male dominated country like our, we find a large gender inequality. Male are given preference in many socio-economic activities.
Many opportunities are given to male rather than women from the house hold based. Women’s participation is minimum in every decision making and job opportunities. This is very less involvement of women in other economical activities like business and governmental services. Women do not have clear concept to elaborate various economical programs to enhance their financial condition.
It is said that men and women are complement of each other. In actual fact, however, it is a lopsided relationship with the women. Nepali women are daughter, wives and mothers but they are not recognized as individuals with their own identity despite the fact that they are human as men. Society has placed women to the lowest rank and to sub massive role confined to the house and farm and responsibilities for their maternal function.

On the birth of son parents fell very happy but in the case of daughter they fell cheated and unhappy. When a female child is born the mother herself does not allow her to involve in various social activities. The mother has a concept that the daughter after marriage have to go to other’s house. If a male child is born then the mother things of schooling him and allow his active participation in various social and economical activities. Sons are seen as economic assets, daughters as potential burdens.

So due to the society being overruled by patriarchal values, women are far behind than men in various development, economical, educational and social aspects.
The advancement of women and the achievement of equality between men and women is a matter of human right. Moreover, it is a condition for social justice and should not be seen as isolated women’s issue. It is the only way to built a sustainable and developed society. The empowerment of women and equality between men and women are necessary element in achieving political economic, cultural, social and environmental security among all.
Gender inequality between men and women exists in developed as well as in developing countries in terms of socio-economic political, cultural and environmental development. However, there is less gender inequality gap in developed countries but in developing countries there is vast gap of inequality between men and women. It reflects the gender discrimination. Until and unless women are not brought into mainstream of development with equal access as to men there will not be the advancement of any society nation or world.
Educated women can be successful workers, capable house wives and reasonable mother. The mother is the first teacher of everyone. Thus, female education plays the role of the base stone of development. A female is a daughter, a sister, a wife, but most of all she is God’s creation. Creation that can create life.
If Nepalese women are educated they will be the twinkling star of sky like Florence Nightingle, Mother Teresa and Madam Curie.
Empowered women take more active roles in the house and community. When women take active roles in the household and community decision making, their families will be better equipped to comfort the challenges of poverty, improve family health and well being and increase household income. When women are organized into the group they can there collective strength to under take development activities and they are able to work as a pressure group to product their interest.
Education of women in developing countries leads to more equitable, stable and prosperous societies. Appropriate facilities can be improved standards of living for families, increases life spans, healthier and better educated children.
The term women empowerment is not new one, it is a familiar concept and global issue. Surfacely, women have equal right as male counterpart but there is vast discrimination between them due to the ignorance and superstitions. For the women’s empowerment they have provided same opportunity for education and encouraging girls and participate on politics and decision making. Women’s institution and organizations can play important role in this regard. To raise the social status of women their economic standard need to be addressed and promoted. So progress of women towards equality holds a barometer to the progress and development of the whole country.
So, if the nation wants to gain some thing from women, their first duty should be to given equal opportunity of education, health, empowerment etc.
