On the way to the mera peak summit, we were looking for some real food before the mountain diet. Somebody recommended us the Everest Steakhouse, which we had some difficulty to spot. Once in the restaurant, we were friendly welcomed by the numerous staff who seated the 10 of us
together. The very large bottled Everest beers came in a matter of seconds with the menus and a la carte meals. I chose a plain blue chateaubriand which was served with no delay and a lot of vegetables and french fries around. The plate was really impressive and we figured the steak was weighing 750 grams! It was for about 6 euros. The meat proved to be very tender and savorous and we had to confess it was almost too much.
After the trek and two weeks without any meat we rushed back to the Everest Steakhouse for another chateaubriand with the same satisfaction we complimented the smiling female owner. I'll be back on March 30, 2008 to climb the Everest north col and the first thing I'll do on the way and back is to dine mre chateaubraind at the Everest Steakhouse. There is no better restaurant I'd recommend for the friendly atmosphere, the food, and drinks; the whole at very reasonable prices. A must-try while in KTM.
