APRIL 17, KATHMANDU. Chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist), Pushpa
Kamal Dahal has expressed the confidence that the political parties
would be able to forge consensus within a few days as the environment
of trust has developed among them of late.
Speaking at a sit-in held at the State Affairs Committee Hall by
lawmakers as per their campaign of exerting pressure for peace and
constitution writing here today, he said the constitution should be
promulgated as per the due process if the political consensus was not
forged. However, the environment for writing the constitution has been
very positive, he added.
Chairman Dahal said, “One of the major tasks of the peace process,
the army integration process, has been concluded, and now, we all have
been working seriously to conclude the remaining task of the
constitution writing process.”
All the parties seemed to be very serious and making efforts on
peace and constitution writing while evaluating their latest activities
over the last two days. However, some other issues that are connected
to the peace process such as formation of the Commission on Truth and
Reconciliation, the Commission on Enforced disappearances are still
remained to be settled, he noted.
Dahal said the Constituent Assembly members’ sit-in protest has
provided the moral support to the leaders to take forward the
constitution writing process. “There is no more need of sit-ins, let’s
work as per our shared aspirations,” he added.
