Minimum Medical Payment Coverage

Effective January 1, 2009, the law will require all Colorado automobile liability insurance policies to include a minimum Medical Payment coverage limit of $5,000. This coverage pays for reasonable medical expenses related to an automobile accident, subject to the terms, limits and conditions of your policy contract.

Medical Payments coverage is primary to any health insurance coverage and applies to any insurance or deductible requirement of a health coverage plan. Insurance companies are required by law to prioritize Medical Payments benefits to certain service providers. New and renewing policies on or after this date will be issued with $5000 Medical Payment coverage.

You have the option to reject this coverage by signing an option form. This can be done by logging into your policy and submitting your request to decline this coverage through the Coverage tab of the Policyholder Service Center. After you have declined the coverage, you will then need to sign our on-line electronic signing option. You can also mail back the option form that is sent with your insurance policy paperwork.

Graduated Driver's Licensing in Colorado

Graduated licensing introduces beginners to the driving experience in a low-risk manner, protecting both new drivers and others. GDL includes limits on late-night unsupervised driving and the number of teenage passengers in the car—factors that are known to contribute to high teen accident rates.
